Worth the extra $$$
I was wondering how long the bulb in my Cessna T210N HID landing light would last. It went out the other day, February 28, 2016, current tach time 9869.0. I installed the HID light on February 6, 2007 at tach time 4627.8. Yes, that's right the bulb lasted 9 years, and 5,241.2 hours. Typically, I just leave the light on during flight, so it probably has about 4,000+ hours on the bulb. A standard GE4591 bulb lasts about 100 hours... We replaced the bulb in the HID system for less than $100.00, and are hoping for another 5,000 hours between bulb changes!
